Rights
On January 28, 2004, The Waybacks gave permission for shows to be hosted at the Archive:
"Hi there!
James Nash of The Waybacks here. We think archive.org looks great, and we'd love to participate. Here's our taping policy:
We allow taping of our live shows, provided tapers show courtesy to venue staff and other audience members, and recognize that all commercial rights to the tape belong to "The Waybacks"; i.e. recordings of our shows can be traded, but never sold. We currently do not allow direct board feeds, but when we hopefully get to the point where we can afford the luxury of a full-time FOH engineer, we'll probably change that policy.
Please add us to the etree/archive.org list of trade-friendly bands.
Thanks!
James"
SERIOUS NOTE TO TAPERS: Go for it! Taping / trading of Waybacks shows is expressly encouraged.
Re: cool with supplemental mp3 versions of shows on the LMA?
And we're fine with allowing the supplemental mp3 copies.
All the best, you guys!
James
Clarification on June 16, 2007 regarding soundboard recordings:
"From our perspective, at shows, it's up to the FOH engineer whether or not to allow a taper to patch in. So, officially, we don't allow board patches, but we'll OK them on a case-by-case basis if the house engineer doesn't mind.
And as far as sharing goes, we're totally fine with public downloads of board patches."
